좋은 디자인으로 인기를 끌던 중국의 LED 손전등 회사 나이트코어에서 신제품을 내놓았다.
커스텀 라이트 메이커인 McGizmo의 PD(Piston Drive) 스위치를 라이선스 받아서 만든 제품이다.
우선 피스톤 드라이브에 대한 것부터 간단히...


내부구조는 대강 이런식으로 바디 내부로 배터리홀더가 따로 있고 테일캡스위치 구실까지 같이 하는 형식이다.
장점이라면 구조가 매우 간단하고 일반적으로 고무로 된 테일캡까지 금속재질로 만들어져 내구성과 신뢰성이 매우 높다는 것이다.



Mcgizmo Ti PD
티타늄 재질로 되어 있으며 가격은...
가격을 떠나 구하기 자체가 어렵다.


곧 출시될 ARC 6
역시 PD시스템을 채용하고 있으며 가격은 최소 200달러 이상이 될것으로 예상된다.

이렇게 피스톤 드라이브를 채용한 제품들이 있긴 하지만 문제는 가격이었다.
어지간한 플래시라이트 매니아가 아니라면 엄두가 안난다.
이럴 때 중국이 도와주는 법
짝퉁을 만들어서...가 아니라 정식라이선스를 받아서 나이트코어에서 SmartPD를 내놓았다.

트위스트방식을 통한 온오프, 테일캡 스위치를 이용한 순간점등과 연속점등까지 모두 지원하는 것을 볼 수 있다.

가격은 국내가로 5만원대 후반정도이다.
물론 저렴하다고는 볼 수 없지만 저 위에 있는 미국산 제품들에 비하면 여러모로 착한 편이다.
디자인도 꽤 괜찮고 이런 제품들은 한번 사두면 어지간해선 고장날 일도 없기 때문에 그 정도 비용은 한번 감수해 볼만도 하다.
